I have my own favorites, of course. Here, a quick list.
A Girl and Her Fed (full page)
An outspoken leftist journalist discovers that she really HAS been under surveillance by the Feds. She may be dangerous, but she's not THAT kinda dangerous. Features a little glowing Ben Franklin with fairy wings.
Alien Loves Predator (strip)
Abe and Preston live in NYC and have all the same problems anyone else would have... except their aliens from outer space. Booyah. (Fantastic images- real action figures and real photos fused seamlessly.) Oh yeah- and Jesus is MVP of the Yankees!
Bunny (one panel)
One-panel strips about a little pink bunny and its bizarre adventures. For the whimsical.
Candi (strip)
Candi is a sweet-natured art student surrounded by a few hardnosed, jaded jerks--like her boyfriend! But Menjou the talking lab ferret is around to give squishy hugs, so it's all good.
C'est La Vie (strip)
The life and times of Mona Montrois, a french columnist living in the US, and her favorite stuffed toy- the bunny, Monsieur Smokey. Ooh lala. Cyncical and clever.
Count Your Sheep (strip)
A little girl, her mother, and the imaginary sheep, Ship. Genuine, charming, and childlike. Winner of the Cartoonist's Choice award for VERY good reason!
Friendly Hostility (strip, full-page format)
From the maven who brought you BoyMeetsBoy comes the spinoff, following the zany adventures of Collin and Fox. (SHEXEH!) And let us not forget Fox's crazy Indian family, Collin's slave, Bootsie, or the demon who live(d) in their fridge. Viva.
Gunnerkrigg Court (full page)
So well told, it should be a novel. After her mother's death, Antimony is sent her parents' old boarding school--a place so huge no one really knows what's going on back there. Her gift for the supernatural comes in handy when talking to ghosts, gods, and robots come to life... Great alchemy themes.
I Drew This (political cartoon)
My absolute favorite new political cartoonist. And, yes, he gets published!
In His Likeness (strip)
God... is a big black dot on a white plain. And the devil? Is a red dot with horns. A very minimalist comic that proves that the art isn't everything. It's VERY funny, and the writer is a nice guy, too.
Juathuur (full page)
The Juathuur are magic-users with a strict code of ethics. However, a rift in opinion drove away a splinter group who want to bring down the Juathuur's leadership. Faevv is a young girl recently brought to the Juathuur for training, but she has been pulled into the conflict by a mysterious ability to cross onto the plane where an imprisoned god waits.
Kawaii Not (strip)
omg, so cute! Not. All those too-adorable little Japanese graphics get their revenge.
Kristy vs. The Zombie Army (full page)
Badass. Kristy was in school to be a zombie hunter, but the zombies came to get her just a little too soon. They're after something her parents left behind--but what's it for?
Married to the Sea (one panel)
Takes ye olde drawings of yesteryear and puts them into new, modern, utterly ridiculous situations. ENJOY. Not contiguous.
Megatokyo (manga)
The alpha and the omega of online manga. It began as a gamer injoke, but get past the initial month or so of silliness and you will find a hardcore manga about life, love, fighting 3vil, and, yes- b33r. (ERICA AND LARGO-!!) Excellent art.
Misfile (manga)
One of my favorite concepts: An angel got a job filing- well- files- but it's a boring job and he was smoking pot when his superior came by... and he misfiled some things and screwed up the lives of two teens on Earth (one a boy who's now a girl, and a girl who had just been accepted to Harvard and is now again a HS sophomore.)
No Rest For The Wicked (full page)
Fairy tales gone awry. November is the delicate princess (of the pea), but it's more than peas disturbing her sleep. She's a complete insomniac! Only the Moon can cure her troubles, so she and her companions (Puss In Boots and a macabre Little Red Riding Hood) set out in search of the mysterious Moon...
Penny & Aggie (strip)
Old-school art (think pin-up meets Archie), new-style language. ...and intimations of a love that dare not speak its name... Oh, yeah, and teen sex, too!
Red String (manga)
There is an old Japanese legend about how two lovers are joined by a red string. Has Miharu been betrothed to a total stranger--or her red string lover?
Questionable Content (full-page strip)
They make fun of themselves for being indie; and they're SMART. Plus, the relationships aren't always as cutesy as you want them to be. Good stuff.
Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal (one panel)
Despite the name, updated almost daily. Always read the captions under the picture... Sometimes things aren't always what they seem...
Something*Positive (full-page strip)
Randy Milholland is one of my favorite people ever. His main character Davan is a complete cynic and pessimist, and his best buddies are the incredibly violent and intelligent Aubrey and PeeJee. Brilliance abounds. Updated daily. (PS, if you miss Queen of Wands, Kestral is now part of the cast!)
Shooting War (strip)
It may be about war, but it's total eye candy. Absolutely beautiful. The story is set in 2011, with a leftist blogger on the ground in Iraq.
Templar, Arizona (Full page)
A town in Arizona and the nutty people who live there. Also pokes fun at people who take Renn Faires and cosplay to the extreme--Sincerists.
Venus Envy (strip)
Zoe is a teenage MtF (male to female) transgender. Her parents are allowing her a trial run at a new school where she can finally be herself. Problems, of course, abound, but this is NOT an angst comic- it finds humor that anyone can appreciate. So go support Erin.
Wapsi Square (strip)
One of the oldest running, it's still 5 days a week, with increasingly complex storylines.
